STILLWATER, Okla. – Three high school players have enrolled early at Oklahoma State University and are officially Cowboy football players, OSU coach Mike Gundy announced Monday.

The three players – quarterback J.W. Walsh, linebacker Kris Catlin and offensive lineman Travis Cross – join two junior college players to make a total of five mid-year enrollees for the Cowboys. All five are now attending classes and can practice with the team.

Juco offensive lineman Michael Bowie and defensive end Ryan Robinson signed with Oklahoma State in December.

Walsh, a quarterback from Guyer High School in Denton, Texas, is one of the most sought-after quarterbacks in the 2011 class. He led his team to a state runner-up finish in Class 5A Division II while throwing for 3,200 yards and 35 touchdowns. He also ran for another 1,400 yards during the season.

Rivals.com recruiting service ranked Walsh as the No. 3 dual-threat quarterback in the nation and the 77th-best player overall. He participated in the U.S. Army All-American game and the Elite 11 quarterback camp.

Linebacker Kris Catlin of Madison High School in San Antonio was ranked as the No. 20 linebacker prospect in the country by Rivals and No. 70 overall in the state of Texas. He had 99 tackles as a senior and 98 as a junior. Catlin chose OSU over schools such as Arizona, Arkansas, Missouri and Kansas.

Offensive lineman Travis Cross is a two-time all-district selection at Plano West High School in Plano, Texas. He is ranked by recruiting service Scout.com as the 12th-best player in the country at his position. Cross committed early to OSU and chose the Cowboys over schools such as LSU, Notre Dame, Nebraska and Stanford.
