CLEMSON, South Carolina – A source close to the negotiations told ESPN’s Joe Schad Sunday that Tulsa’s Chad Morris has been hired as the new offensive coordinator for the Clemson Tigers.
Morris had been reported as a top candidate for the position after interviewing last week. The Tigers fired previous coordinator Billy Napier last Sunday, and Morris arrived the next day for his interview.
Morris was a high school coach in Texas – most notably at Lake Travis High School – before being hired by the Golden Hurricane in January 2010. In his only season with TU, Morris’ offense ranked No. 5 in the nation.
Morris also had been named as a candidate for the offensive coordinator position at Oklahoma State, vacated by Dana Holgorsen earlier in the offseason.
