LAKE BUENA VISTA, Florida – The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation announced Thursday that Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon won the 2010 Biletnikoff Award.
The Biletnikoff Award is given annually to the nation’s best receiver, and Blackmon becomes the first Cowboy to receive the honor. He finished the regular season with 102 catches for 1,665 yards and 18 touchdowns. He leads the nation in both receiving yards per game and receptions per game.
OSU will travel to San Antonio for the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 29, and Blackmon has the chance to break several records in that game.
He is eight yards shy of setting the NCAA record for most receiving yards by a sophomore, 31 yards away from breaking the OSU program record for single-season receiving yards, six catches from the Cowboys’ record for receptions in a season and two scores short of the school record for receiving touchdowns in a season.
Blackmon also has 11 consecutive games with at least 100 receiving yards and a touchdown, and if he repeats that feat in the Alamo Bowl he will become the only player in NCAA history to do it 12 straight times.
