PITTSBURGH – Conflicting reports began circulating Thursday that Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen has been interviewed for the head coaching position at the University of Pittsburgh.
Pennsylvania television station KDKA reported that Holgorsen flew to Pittsburgh Wednesday night and interviewed for the position. That story also said he was the first candidate interviewed for the vacant job.
Later in the day, NewsOK.com reported that Holgorsen denied the original claims and said he had not been contact by Pitt. He added that he is happy where he is.
In Holgorsen’s first year as OSU’s offensive coordinator, the Cowboys became one of the most dangerous offenses in the nation. He also had stints as coordinator at Houston and Texas Tech, where his offense was also among the country’s best.
Former Pittsburgh head coach Dave Wannstedt resigned earlier in the week, despite leading the Panthers to a 7-5 season and a share of the Big East championship.
Oklahoma Sports will bring you more details about this situation as they develop.
