INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana -- No doubt the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles gave the IUPUI crowd something to groan about when Warren Niles hit a shot in the lane with less than a second on the clock.
The game was tied at 61 after the Jags’ Alex Young stole an inbounds pass, finishing the play with a layup. With just eight seconds left in the game, Niles broke from the back court, racing toward the basket. Pulling up just inside the free throw line, Niles nailed the shot to win the game and improve his team’s record to 4-4 overall and 2-0 in Summit play.
Niles finished the game with 11 points, along with teammate Dominique Morrison. Damen Bell-Holter and Steven Roundtree led the Golden Eagles with 13 points apiece. Bell-Holter also had seven boards, four assists and two blocks, while Roundtree contributed eight rebounds and two assists.
Oral Roberts will travel to Norman Saturday Dec. 11 to face the Oklahoma Sooners (3-4) at 2 p.m.
