Oklahoma State's Bryant Ward Named Burslworth Finalist

The award is given to honor the nation's top player that began his career as a walk-on.

STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- Oklahoma State fullback Bryant Ward was named a finalist Friday for the inaugural Burlsworth Trophy, given to a player who began his career as a walk-on.

Ward walked on to the squad in 2007 and has seen significant playing time in all four seasons, as a blocking fullback and also on special teams duties.

The award is named for former Arkansas lineman who began his career as a walk-on, but after completing his collegiate career was drafted in the third round by the Indianapolis Colts. Eleven days after he was drafted he was killed in a car accident on the way back to his home town.
