FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas – The OU men’s basketball team’s losing streak extended to four games Wednesday with an 84-74 loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks.
The Sooners (3-4) shot well, making 47 percent of their shots and hitting seven 3-pointers. But they could not overcome rampant turnovers.
OU gave the ball away 22 times, resulting in 29 points for Arkansas (4-1). The Sooners scored just nine points off turnovers.
The Razorbacks also dominated at the free-throw line, attempting a total of 26 free throws and making 23, while OU made just nine shots from the charity stripe. Arkansas went 7-of-8 from the free-throw line in the final four minutes to put the game out of reach.
Andrew Fitzgerald led OU with 18 points, but was the only Sooner starter to score in double digits. Calvin Newell and Nick Thompson both played well off the bench, combining to shoot 11-of-21 from the field for 28 points.
Arkansas’ Rotnei Clarke led all scorers with 20 points, while Jeff Peterson scored 15 despite taking only five shots. He went 8-of-9 from the free-throw line.
The Sooners’ only three wins of the season came at home in their first three contests of the season. They have since played four straight road games, which will continue with their next game against Arizona at 3 p.m. Sunday.
