What you need to know?
The Sooners have struggled on the road for the last two years, and those issues came back to bight them in each of their last two trips away from Norman. OU lost to Missouri and Texas A&M in consecutive road games, and now finishes the season with two straight road contests against Baylor and Oklahoma State.
Bob Stoops has been quick to dismiss the notion that the Sooners are a different team on the road, but the point is getting more and more difficult to argue. If OU wants to keep its chances for a Big 12 South title alive, it will need to get past its road woes.
Who to watch?
The Sooners’ problems on the road begin with quarterback Landry Jones, who seems like a completely different player away from Norman. In only three true road games this year, Jones has thrown four interceptions. In six home games, he has two interceptions. Jones will be facing one of the worst pass defenses in the country, so something has to give.
The Bears’ offense revolves around athletic freak Robert Griffin, who has developed into a solid passer to go along with his running ability. The OU defense has had trouble containing scramblers in the past, and will be shorthanded with three defensive tackles out for Saturday’s game. The Sooners will likely try playing a cat-and-house game with Griffin, mixing up defensive packages and blitzes to keep him off guard.
