OKLAHOMA CITY – One year after becoming the youngest scoring champion in NBA history, the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Kevin Durant was supposed to grace his first video game cover.
That will now have to wait.
NBA Elite 11, which featured Durant on its cover, was officially canceled Tuesday. The Electronic Arts product – previously known as NBA Live – had originally been delayed because of glitches, bugs and poor user reviews.
Durant said he found out about the original delay through Twitter, and expressed disappointment at the development. He was selected to be the cover athlete in June, and was excited about it.
“Not too many people get this opportunity, so I can't take it for granted,” Durant told AOL Fanhouse at the time. “A lot of kids are going to walk into a store and see that Thunder jersey on in the video game, and that's gonna be pretty cool, so I'm excited about it.”
