What You Need to Know?.

Oklahoma State dropped its first game of the season against Nebraska, but not because they were unable to put points on the board. Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez not only showed the nation that he has the ability to pass as well as run, but that the Cowboys’ defense was susceptible against the pass. With Oklahoma losing later that night, the Cowboys’ Big 12 title game hopes are still alive, but they need to get back to winning.

The Wildcats are one win away from being bowl eligible, but have gotten those five wins against bad non-conference teams and sub-par Big 12 opponents. Against teams that are currently in the BCS Top 25, the Wildcats are 0-2 and have given up 95 points in those two contests.

Who You Need to Watch?

If Kansas State wants to send the Cowboys back to Stillwater with a loss, William Powell will have to have a big day in the return game. Powell is second in the nation in kick returns, averaging 34 yards per return – including a 100-yard score against Baylor – while Oklahoma State averages 34.3 yards given up per return, which ranks 119th out of 120 FBS schools. Daniel Thomas also provides a different challenge for OSU, being the first physical back it will face this season.

With receiver Justin Blackmon sitting out because of DUI arrest Tuesday morning, Oklahoma State needs one of its other receivers to step up. Its second leading receiver is Josh Cooper, who averages five receptions and 57.1 yards per game this season. Some of the pressure of offensive production will fall on Kendall Hunter, who eclipsed 1,000 yards and passed Barry Sanders to claim the No. 4 spot on the Cowboys’ all-time rushing list.
