OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oregon Ducks swooped in to claim the No. 1 position on the Associated Press college football poll, making history by topping the poll for the first time in school history.
The Ducks, who were on an off week, beat the previous No. 1 Ohio State, who fell on the road to Wisconsin 31-18.
Boise State moved up to No. 2, while Oklahoma placed No. 3 in this week’s poll. TCU was ranked No. 4, and Auburn came in at fifth, having moved up two spots after beating Arkansas, 65-43.
Oklahoma State broke a 66-year trend by beating the Texas Tech Red Raiders in Lubbock, earning the Pokes a No. 17 spot on the poll, three spots up from last week’s position.
Oklahoma State hosts Nebraska this week. The Cornhuskers fell to the Texas Longhorns last week 20-13.
Oklahoma will travel to Missouri to face the Tigers, who crushed Texas A&M 30-9 in College Station last Saturday.
