TULSA, Oklahoma – The Golden Hurricane offense didn’t shine in Stillwater last Saturday. The Cowboys’ defense was able to shut down the nation’s seventh-ranked passing attack, limiting Tulsa to just 21 offensive points.

Despite those struggles, head coach Todd Graham didn’t forecast any major changes for this week’s game against Central Arkansas.

“It doesn’t change my belief in the program or where we’re going or what we’re doing,” he said.

Quarterback G.J. Kinne threw three interceptions against Oklahoma State after playing nearly flawless football the first two weeks of the season. The Tulsa leader has shown up big on the stat sheet in recent games, but has led his team to a somewhat head-scratching 1-2 start.

“We feel like we’re a team that can score points,” said Graham. “We’re still averaging well over 500 yards a game offensively.”

Tulsa has run the football more effectively this season than it did in the early-going in 2009. Trey Watts and Alex Singleton have been a nice 1-2 punch to go along with the diversity that Charles Clay brings to the game plan. The trio has amassed 294 yards and three touchdowns on the ground between them this season.

Tulsa is 23rd in the nation in points scored at over 36 per game. The Central Arkansas Bears could prove to be a tougher test than the Golden Hurricane’s first home opponent. In three games, UCA has allowed 47 total points.
