STILLWATER, Oklahoma – Mixed news surfaced Monday for coach Mike Gundy and the Oklahoma State Cowboys regarding injuries sustained during OSU’s 65-17 win over Washington State.
Defensive tackle Shane Jarka will not play Saturday against Troy after going down with an apparent leg injury in the fourth quarter of the Pokes' season opener against the Cougars. Jarka hobbled off and was later seen on crutches. He did not return to the game against Washington State and there is no word on his expected return.
Several plays later, fellow defensive tackle Chris Donaldson went down with an apparent ankle injury. He returned to the game, but not for long. Donaldson is expected to practice this week and is probable for OSU’s game on Saturday against Troy.
Gundy initially said he thought both starting defensive tackles would be out for the Troy game.
Defensive tackle is likely the position with the least depth on OSU’s roster, which is especially a concern when starters such as Donaldson and Jarka are injured.
Sophomores DeJuan Davis and Nigel Nicholas are listed as the backups behind Donaldson and Jarka on OSU’s official depth chart.
Redshirt freshman defensive tackle Anthony Rogers had three tackles and a sack filling in for the injured players in Saturday’s win.
