CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bulls have invited former OSU guard John Lucas III to join them in their training camp and will offer a partially-guaranteed one-year contract, according to an ESPN report.
Lucas performed well for the Chicago Bulls in the 2010 summer league and apparently earned himself consideration for a third-string point guard spot behind Derrick Rose and C.J. Watson.
Lucas spent time on the Houston Rockets and bounced around to several other teams’ summer and training camp rosters. Last year he played for the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association before coming to the NBA’s summer league.
He might not be offered the contract officially until the end of the month so the Bulls have flexibility in acquiring other players through trades that might require Lucas’ potential spot.
Lucas would likely be looking at a one-year, league minimum contract with Chicago.
