Former Sooner Ken Pryor Dies at 85

Ken Pryor, best known for his crucial last-second shot to beat Texas in the 1947 NCAA semifinals, died Tuesday at the age of 85.

NORMAN, Oklahoma -- Former University of Oklahoma Sooner Ken Pryor died Tuesday at the age of 85 of unknown causes.

The basketball player is known for his last second shot in the 1947 NCAA semifinal game, which propelled the Sooners over the Texas Longhorns 55-54. OU went on to play against Holy Cross in the championship game, falling 58-47.

Pryor went on to play for the Phillips 66ers for three seasons following his career with Oklahoma. He worked for Phillips Oil Company before opening his own insurance company in Norman in 1963.

Ken Pryor is survived by his wife, Pauline, a son and three daughters. Memorials services are pending.
