TULSA, Oklahoma -- The Tulsa Drillers had a lot to celebrate Friday night. The team set an attendance record after more than 7,400 fans showed up, totaling the inaugural season at ONEOK Field to 352,851.
The Drillers completed a three-game sweep of the Midland RockHounds with a 9-6 victory, marking its fourth straight win which matched the team’s season high win-streak.
Friday’s attendance record broke the former season total high, set in 1999, by 942. Broken Arrow’s Jannasch family entered ONEOK just before the beginning of the game, breaking the record. The family, which includes Nathan, Andrea, Carter and Allison, received commemorative jerseys and four 2011 season tickets.
The Dillers’ Friday night victory keeps the team in the pennant race, and neck-and-neck with Northwest Arkansas and Springfield. The Naturals are just two games in front of Tulsa and Springfield.
The Drillers will host a three-game series against the Frisco RoughRiders, beginning Saturday at 7:05 p.m.
