For the second straight game, a quick start was not enough for the RedHawks.
Oklahoma City dropped its third straight to the Iowa Cubs, losing 5-3 after posting all three runs in the first inning.
OKC first baseman Chris Davis doubled to right in the first scoring Esteban German and Brandon Boggs.
Davis would score on a Max Ramirez single to put the RedHawks up 3-1 after one.
But for the second straight night (OKC gave up an early 2-1 lead on Sunday) a strong first inning would not cut it.
Two homers in the fourth inning from Iowa’s Jason Dubois and Welington Castillo gave the Cubs their final score of 5-3.
Derek Holland gave up four runs and seven hits in 4.2 innings for Oklahoma City while Austin Bibens-Dirkx picked up the win for Iowa.
Oklahoma City will finish out the four-game series against the Cubs at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday at the Bricktown Ballpark.
