LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Jerome Jordan is starting to figure this pro basketball thing out. The seven-footer from Tulsa dominated the first half of a 92-80 win over Detroit in NBA Summer League play on Friday, impressing his new head coach.
“His offense is good. When he gets the ball, there’s no panic,” said Knicks head man Mike D’Antoni. “He’s got a nice little shot.”
Jordan scored 16 points on 5-of-9 shooting against the Pistons. He also added seven rebounds in the win. The effort was a nice bounce-back performance from a sloppy three point, seven rebound effort on Wednesday.
“He probably needs a couple of years of development to get strength and be able to run a little bit better,” admitted D’Antoni. “I think he’s a little bit of a project, but in a couple years I think he’ll be fine.”
D’Antoni said he fully expects the former Tulsa star to make the New York roster. Jordan averaged 7.75 points and five rebounds per game in his first four summer league games.
