SPRINGDALE, Arkansas -- The runs came fast and furious as the Northwest Arkansas Naturals jumped out to a 9-1 lead, then barely hung on to win 12-10 against the Tulsa Drillers.
The slugfest yielded only one Tulsa home run, a solo shot by Jason Van Kooten in the seventh inning – one of seven Drillers’ runs scored in the frame.
It was a rough day for Christian Friedrich, going five innings and allowing nine earned runs on eight hits, but it would be reliever Ching Lung Lo stuck with the loss for Tulsa (29-42).
The only pitcher to go longer than one inning without allowing an earned run was Northwest Arkansas (44-28) starter Edgar Osuna, who got the no decision in his five-inning effort.
The No. 5-9 hitters were killers for the Naturals, grabbing all 12 RBI while going 5-for-15.
Paulo Orlando and Jeff Howell added home runs for the Naturals.
