TULSA, Oklahoma -- The Drillers could not ground the Travelers as Arkansas takes a 7-2 victory. Tulsa shortstop Daniel Mayora committed two errors, both coming on back-to-back plays in the ninth inning.
Andrew Romine advanced to third on Mayora’s throwing error and scored on the next play when Mayora mishandled the ball. Two more runs would cross the plate for Arkansas to put the Travs on top 7-2.
Brian Walker led off the top of the eighth with a solo home run for Arkansas. The Travelers scored single runs in the first, sixth and seventh innings.
Tulsa’s first two runs came in the first two innings. Bronson Sardinha crossed the plate in the first inning while Wilin Rosario scored in the second to give Tulsa a 2-1 lead.
Chris Malone (1-2) was tagged with the loss after giving up two earned runs in two innings of relief. Starter Bruce Billings got a no-decision after allowing two earned runs in six innings.
Taylor Wilding (2-4) went six innings and gave up two earned runs to gain the win for the Travelers.
Tulsa hits the road to start a four-game series with Northwest Arkansas at 7:00 p.m. Monday.
