TULSA, Oklahoma -- Six Tulsa Drillersplayers have been selected to the Texas League North Division All Star Team. Pitchers Bruce Billings, Keith Weiser and Scott Rice join the 10-man pitching squad, while Daniel Mayora, Wilin Rosario and Jeff Kindel are all listed as reserves for the North Division squad.
Kindel – who is on the disabled list – will be replaced on the final All-Star team by Northwest Arkansas’ Tim Smith.
Weiser, the Drillers’ top starter, is 5-4 on the season and leads the team with a 2.84 ERA in his 12 starts. Joining Weiser is Bruce Billings, who is 5-4 on the season with a 3.03 ERA and a WHIP of 1.08 and 48 strikeouts. Rice, a reliever, has a 1.19 ERA and a team-leading .98 WHIP in his 37.2 innings pitched.
Leading the Drillers in batting average (.292) netted Mayora a place as a reserve for the North Division. He also drove in 22 runners this season and hit a team-high 17 doubles. Rosario, the other active reserve for Tulsa, is batting .269 for the season with 23 RBIs and is tied for the team lead with 8 home runs.
The Texas League All-Star Game will be played June 30 at Midland’s Citibank Ballpark.
