TULSA, Oklahoma -- Tulsa basketball player Glenn Andrews has been granted a medical hardship waiver after missing most of last season with a knee injury.
The university's athletic department says it learned of the decision Friday from Conference USA, of which Tulsa is a member.
Andrews tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during the spring of 2009. He missed all but two games last season for the Golden Hurricane. By receiving the hardship waiver, Andrews won't be charged with using a season of eligibility for playing in those games.
The Alexandria, Va. native starred at T.C. Williams High School before committing to Tulsa. The 6-foot-2 guard will be a redshirt junior next season and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining. During his first two seasons, Andrews averaged 7.5 points and 2.3 rebounds per game, starting 16 out of 77 possible games.
