TULSA, Oklahoma -- A strong second-half performance was enough for the San Antonio Silver Stars to pull away from the Tulsa Shock, 83-74 at the BOK Center.
Stars forward Sophia Young led all scorers with 23 points on 11-of-16 shooting.
The game was tied at 41 at the half, but San Antonio (1-1) quickly pulled away. An 8-0 run toward the end of the third quarter opened up a nine-point gap from which Tulsa couldn’t recover.
Kara Braxton (15 points) was one of seven Shock players to score 8-plus points.
Marion Jones scored her first career WNBA points on a first quarter layup, but those two points were all she could manage in 8-plus minutes coming off the bench.
Tulsa (0-2) hits the road for the first time on Sunday for a rematch against the Minnesota Lynx (1-2). Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at Target Center.
