STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- Oklahoma State’s men’s basketball team ranked seventh nationally in average increased attendance, it was announced by the NCAA Wednesday.

OSU’s average attendance at Gallagher-Iba Arena in the 2009-2010 season was 11,585 per game, a 1,554 fan increase from their 2008-2009 average attendance. The Cowboys’ average attendance ranked fifth in the conference and 35th nationally last season.

“The fact that our average attendance grew by more than 1,500 from the previous season is exciting,” said head coach Travis Ford in a press release. “Our goal is to sell out and fill Gallagher-Iba Arena for every single game.”

Oklahoma State had the nation’s highest increase in 2001 – an increase of 5,907 fans per game – after more than doubling the capacity of Gallagher-Iba Arena.
