OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma State held off a late-game push by Oklahoma to tie up the Bedlam Series with a 4-3 win Saturday.
In the first at-bat of the third inning, Luis Uribe hit a solo home run to left field to score the first run of the game. Two at-bats later, Davis Duren singled to center field to score Tom Belza and give OSU (27-19, 8-12) a 2-0 lead. Nico Rosthenhausler’s two-RBI single to right field brought Duran and Josh Botts home and pused the lead to four runs.
Caleb Bushyhead drove in the Sooners’ (34-13, 11-10) first run of the game with an RBI single to right field to score Chris Ellison.
That ended Oklahoma State pitcher Brad Propst’s (2-1) outing after 7.2 innings. The junior right hander gave up just six hits and one earned run, while striking out seven in his outing. Bobby Shore (6-4) only managed 2.1 innings for the Sooners, giving up four earned runs on six hits before being replaced.
Oklahoma’s ninth-inning threat started with a Max White solo home run to left field in the first at-bat of the inning.
Three at-bats later, Danny Black singled to left to bring Eric Ross home and advance Tyler Ogle to scoring position. Ricky Eisenberg hit a sacrifice bunt in the next at-bat to advance Ogle to third with only one out on the board.
Cowboys’ reliever Andrew Heaney struck out the next two batters to end the OU scoring threat and the game.
The Bedlam Series will be decided at 4:05 p.m. Sunday at Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City.
