SPRINGFIELD, Missouri -- The Tulsa Drillers continued their dominance over the Springfield Cardinals Sunday with an 8-4 win.
The Drillers took a commanding lead in the top of the first inning, scoring four times. Daniel Mayora doubled to center field, hitting home teammate Anthony Jackson for the game’s first run. Ryan Harvey followed with a single to send Mayora home for a 2-0 lead.
Keil Roling hit a two-run homer and give the Drillers a four-run lead.
The Cardinals were able to answer back in the bottom on the inning when Curt Smith hit his first home run of the season. The two-run homer put the Cards within striking distance at 4-2.
Tulsa notched a run in the third and fourth, including a home run by Harvey. It was his fourth of the season.
Smith then hit his second home run of the game for Springfield and brought the Cards to within two runs. The Drillers sealed the deal, though, by tacking on two additional runs.
The victory marks the Drillers' third win of the four game series. The final game will be played Monday at 12:10 p.m.
