SPRINGFIELD, Missouri -- The Drillers’ Ryan Harvey and Jason Van Kooten hit homers Saturday to help earn Tulsa its second win against the Springfield Cardinals, 7-2.
Harvey’s three-run home run came in the top of the fourth inning. It was his third of the season and put the Drillers ahead 5-0, after the team already scored two runs in the third inning.
Van Kooten’s two-run home run to left field sealed the Drillers’ win by pushing them ahead 7-0. The Cardinals tried to come back, scoring twice in the bottom of the sixth, but it wasn’t enough.
Cory Riordan (1-2) earned the win after throwing six innings. He gave up eight hits and two runs. The right-hander struck out three batters.
Nicholas Additon (1-2) finished with the loss for the Cardinals. He pitched four innings and gave up seven hits. He allowed seven runs and two home runs. He struck out three hitters.
Springfield hosts Tulsa again Sunday at 2:10 p.m.
