TULSA, Oklahoma -- Oklahoma State defeated Tulsa 3-1 Wednesday evening, to avenge an earlier loss this season to the Golden Hurricane. The No. 9 Cowgirls are on a 14-game winning streak.
Oklahoma State (37-7) scored first in the top half of the first inning. Sam Heinlein singled up the middle, off the glove of second baseman Kelly Chapman, scoring Alysia Hamilton.
The Cowgirls added two more runs in the fourth inning on three singles and a walk. Hamilton walked with the bases loaded to score Chelsea Garcia from third. Later in the inning, TU starter Kalynn Schrock threw a wild pitch which allowed Mariah Gearhart to score.
Tulsa’s (22-17) lone run came in the second inning. Vanessa Vice doubled and later scored on a throwing error to tie the contest 1-1. The Golden Hurricane managed just four hits all game.
Kat Espinosa (16-3) earned the win for OSU after throwing four innings, scattering four hits while striking out five and giving up one unearned run. Schrock (7-5) was tagged with the loss for TU after pitching five innings and allowing three earned runs.
Oklahoma State will travel to Lawrence, Kansas to face the Jayhawks 2 p.m. Saturday. The Golden Hurricane will host Houston in a doubleheader starting 1 p.m. Saturday.
