TULSA, Oklahoma -- The Tulsa Drillers dropped their second-straight game against the Corpus Christi Hooks 9-3 Friday.
The Hooks took a commanding lead early, scoring seven of their nine runs in the first two innings.
In the second at-bat of the first inning, Jack Shuck scored on an error by Hector Gomez to take a 1-0 lead. Two at-bats later, Koby Clemens homered to left field to score two and push the lead to three.
Shuck would score on a passed ball in the fourth at-bat of the second inning as the Hooks took a 4-1 lead. In the same at-bat, German Duran singled to center to bring T.J. Steele home. Jonathan Gaston then singled to right to bring Duran home and give the Hooks a 6-0 lead. Jhon Florentino drove in the final run of the inning as the Hooks went into the third inning up 7-0.
Tulsa got on the board in the bottom of the third inning when Anthony Jackson scored on a passed ball to cut the deficit to 7-1.
Douglas Arguello (1-0) received a win for the Hooks, pitching 5 1/3 innings, only giving up five hits, one earned run and striking out seven. Cody Riordan (0-1) went 5 2/3 innings for the Drillers while giving up 11 hits and seven earned runs.
Tulsa continues its six-game home stand at 6:05 p.m. Saturday against Corpus Christi, before playing three games against the San Antonio Missions.
