STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- Oklahoma State (28-7, 1-0) opened a two-game series against Baylor (19-9, 0-1) with a 7-4 win over the Bears on Saturday. The victory is OSU's first conference win of the season.
Oklahoma State got on the board first in the bottom of the second when Kelsey Anchors homered to put two runs on the board.
Anna Whiddon started the game strong, retiring six of the first seven batters she faced, but finished the game giving up four earned runs in seven innings of service.
Baylor tied the game at 2-2 in the third on a Jordan Vannatta RBI double that scored KJ Freeland and Nicole Wesley. After a Dani Leal solo home run in the top of the fifth, the Bears expanded the lead to two in the sixth on a Bree Hanafin sacrifice fly.
Oklahoma State recaptured the lead in the bottom of the sixth, though, with a five-run inning. Alysia Hamilton brought Anchors and Chelsea Garcia home with a single up the middle. Tamara Brown wrapped up the scoring by hitting a three-run home run to center, scoring Hamilton and Julie Ward.
Whiddon closed the door in the top of the seventh by retiring three straight to clinch the 7-4 win.
