SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota -- Oral Roberts advanced to the semifinal round of the Summit League Tournament with a 65-64 overtime victory over North Dakota State on Sunday.
Dominique Morrison had 16 points for the Golden Eagles, while Warren Niles added 14.
ORU scored the first five points of the extra period to take a 61-56 lead. The Bison would reel off five straight as well, but Nate Zastrow’s go-ahead jumper as time expired was off the mark.
ORU took advantage of the Bison’s four minute scoring drought in the first half and went on a 9-0 run. Both teams went cold in the final three minutes of the half and Kevin Ford’s layup at the 2:51 mark were the last points scored in the first half. Still, ORU took a 38-29 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The Golden Eagles went on a 6-2 spurt to open the second half and took a 44-31 lead, but an 18-6 run by the Bison put them back into the contest. Michael Tveidt’s tip-in with 14 seconds left tied the game at 56 and Morrison missed a last-second jumper which sent the game into overtime.
Tveidt finished with 22 points and Eric Carlson had 14 for NDSU.
ORU will play IUPUI at 8:30 p.m. on Monday.
