STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- The Oklahoma State Cowgirls improved to 15-5 on the season after beating the Nevada Wolfpack 7-1 Sunday.
With the victory, OSU completed a perfect 4-0 record this weekend in The Preview tournament held at the Cowgirl Stadium.
The game remained scoreless until the third inning, when OSU’s Julie Ward hit a two-run homer into center field. The four-bagger was the seventh of the season for Ward.
Nevada’s Sam Bias answered back in the top of the fourth with a home run of her own. Bias’ second home run of the season was the only run for the Wolfpack on the day. Chelsea Garcia and Kelsey Anchors both scored for the Cowgirls in the bottom of the fourth.
Anna Whiddon picked up the win by striking out five and only allowing two hits in six innings. Sarah Odom relieved Whiddon in the seventh inning, and finished the game by setting down every batter she faced.
The Cowgirls will host the Tulsa Golden Hurricane Tuesday at 6 p.m.
