What you need to know...
Oklahoma City has been on an offensive tear over its past five games, averaging 107 points over that span. The Thunder is 7-3 against division foes, sitting three-and-a-half games back of leader Denver, and Oklahoma City can continue to gain ground in the division against a weak in-division opponent. The Thunder could also gain some ground on Phoenix in the Western Conference after the Suns’ loss to the Pacers Saturday.
Sacramento has been terrible since the All-Star break, losers of eight games since the unofficial halfway mark of the season, including a loss to the Thunder. They have averaged 89 points per game over that 11-game stretch, and are near the bottom of the Western Conference looking up.
Who to watch...
Kevin Durant sits comfortably in second place for the NBA scoring title, averaging 29.7 points per game, while grabbing 7.6 rebounds per game and even dishing out 2.8 assists per game. Perhaps even more critical to Oklahoma City’s success as a team is the development of Russell Westbrook. The Thunder’s point man is seventh in the league in assists with 7.9 per game and eighth among point guards in scoring.
Tyreke Evans has been great for Sacramento in his rookie season, scoring 20.3 points per game while dishing out 5.4 assists per game. He leads all rookies in scoring and is a strong candidate for a rookie of the year title.
