TULSA, Oklahoma -- A three-goal first period propelled the Tulsa Oilers to a 6-3 victory over Mississippi on Wednesday night.
The Oilers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first 10 minutes with goals by Adam Bartholomay, Dan Riedel, and Troy Riddle.
Mississippi cut the Tulsa lead to 3-2 with a late first period goal by Glenn Detulleo and a second period goal by Stephen Margeson. Tulsa would take over after that point, however.
Tyler Butler and Jeff Gumaer extended the lead to 5-2 by scoring second period goals less than a one minute apart and Marty Standish wrapped up the Oiler scoring with a shorthanded goal 7:44 into the third period.
The RiverKings would add a late goal by Ryan Held, but Tulsa would roll.
Marco Emond made 29 saves and picked up the win, while Tim Boren made 31 saves and took the loss.
Tulsa welcomes Rapid City to the BOK Center on Friday.
