STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- After rescheduling its matchup against Oklahoma Christian, Oklahoma State dominated the Eagles 10-2.
The Cowboys got on the board with an unconventional second inning. After loading the bases, Dane Phillips was hit by a pitch to record the RBI for OSU’s first score of the game. Luis Uribe hit into a fielder’s choice on the next at bat, but was still credited with an RBI. Dean Green would score later in the inning on a wild pitch.
Oklahoma Christian responded in the fourth with back-to-back doubles by Jordan Price and Dustin Andrews to close the gap to 3-1.
Oklahoma State pitcher Mike Strong avoided some trouble late in the game by pitching his way out of a bases loaded opportunity to end the sixth inning.
With OSU up 7-1 eighth inning, the bats of Uribe, Dusty Harvard and Mark Ginther put the game out of reach.
Junior Mike Strong picked up the first win of his OSU career, allowing just one hit and racking up six strikeouts in three innings.
The Cowboys now head to Minneapolis, Minnesota for the Dairy Queen Classic. OSU opens up the tournament against Northwestern.
