TULSA, Oklahoma – Tulsa’s comeback bid on Saturday night fell short as Bossier-Shreveport beat the Oilers 4-3 in overtime.
The Mudbugs jumped out to a 1-0 with 29 seconds left in the first period after Tyrel Lucas put one in net.
After Dan Riedel tied the game at 1-1 early in the second period, Bossier-Shreveport took a 3-1 lead on a shorthanded goal by Brett Smith and a powerplay goal by Jeff Kyrzakos.
The Oilers would fight back in the third period and tie the game on a shorthanded goal by Derek Eastman and a score by Troy Riddle.
The comeback celebration did not last for long, though, as Justin Aikins put the game away 21 seconds into the extra period.
John DeCaro made 37 saves and picked up the win, while Marco Emond made 28 saves and took the loss.
The Oilers close out their weekend series with the Mudbugs on Sunday at 4:05 p.m.
