STILLWATER, Oklahoma – Oklahoma Sports’s Dean Blevins has confirmed the Tulsa World report that Oklahoma State quarterback Alex Cate will not return to the Cowboys next season.
Cate started one game against Colorado last season, but did not complete a pass in nine attempts. He was replaced by Brandon Weeden, who led the Cowboys to a second-half comeback victory.
Former starter Zac Robinson has now graduated, and head coach Mike Gundy stated that the starting job is Weeden's going into Spring practice. The Cowboys also recruited local Sand Springs prospect Johnny Deaton.
Cate has not identified which school he will attend next season, just that he is leaving OSU. Oklahoma Sports will bring you more information as it becomes available.
