TULSA, Oklahoma -- Jerome Jordan’s record-breaking night helped propel Tulsa to a 60-52 win over Southern Mississippi. Jordan broke the Conference USA career blocked shot record in the first half with his rejection of Maurice Bolden. Jordan sits on top of C-USA with 315 blocks. The senior center finished the game with 14 points, all in the second half, 11 rebounds and one block.

Ben Uzoh and Justin Hurtt each had 16 points.

Tulsa was able to overcome its 31 percent shooting in the first half by going on a 16-8 run down the stretch. Hurtt hit consecutive 3-pointers to give Tulsa its first lead at 43-42 with 5:12 remaining. The Golden Hurricane (19-5, 8-2) outscored the Golden Eagles (14-9, 4-5) 43-31 in the second half.

Neither team shot the ball well in the first half.

The Golden Eagles connected on just 30 percent of their attempts from the floor. USM was able to shoot a little bit better from behind the arc, hitting three-of-seven from the 3-point line, while TU made just one basket. That proved to be the deciding factor as Southern Miss took a 21-17 lead into halftime.

Gary Flowers led the Golden Eagles with 19 points. The loss snaps USM’s four-game winning streak.
