NORMAN, Oklahoma -- University of Oklahoma freshmen basketball players Steven Pledger and Andrew Fitzgerald were arrested Saturday shortly after the team’s upset win over Texas.
A Dillard’s employee caught the two players shoplifting. According to the Norman Police Department, the two attempted to steal shirts from the store.
Pledger and Fitzgerald were cited with petty larceny and released but never booked because it was a misdemeanor crime and the two live in Norman.
"It is a team matter and will be handled internally," said Senior Associate Athletics Director Kenny Mossman in an email.
Each player played earlier in the day against the Longhorns, with Pledger scoring nine points and Fitzgerald scoring three.
