INDEPENDENCE, Missouri -- Despite being outshot 39-27, the Tulsa Oilers knocked off Missouri 4-2 on Saturday night.
Travis Banga got things started for the Oilers with a goal nine minutes into the contest. It would be the only time either team put points on the board in the first period.
Missouri knotted the game up at 1-1 with a power play goal early in the second period, but Tulsa took control with a goal by T.J. Caig at the 12:14 mark and a Jim Henkemeyer score with 5:35 remaining before the second intermission.
Adam Bartholomay added a goal at the 15:20 mark of the third and Missouri’s Jeff Christian rounded out the scoring by putting one in net with just over two minutes left in the contest.
Trevor Cann made 37 saves and picked up the win, while Missouri’s Alexandre Vincent took the loss.
With the victory, Tulsa completes a two-game sweep of Missouri. The Oilers (22-19-2) return to the ice on Tuesday for a home contest with Colorado.
