Oklahoma State Can't Hold off Texas Longhorns

STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- It looked early like Oklahoma State was going to hand the Texas Longhorns their fourth loss in five games.

A second-half explosion from Texas freshman Jordan Hamilton led the Longhorns to a 72-60 win over the Cowboys, handing OSU its first home-loss of the season.

Two early scoring runs by OSU gave it the early lead.

James Anderson did everything for the Cowboys in the first half, scoring 24 of their 36 first-half points. He would finish the night with a game-high 28 points and six rebounds.

The junior forward was all over the court in the first half, orchestrating an 8-2 run early on and scoring five in a run that gave OSU its biggest lead of the game.

Hamilton came off the bench late in the first half to score Texas’ last seven points to close the lead to four.

Those would be the first seven of would turn out to be a career night for the freshman guard.

Hamilton finished the night with 27 points, blowing away his previous high-score of 17. Fifteen of his points came from behind the arc, but the key to his game was efficiency.

The first-year player shot 11-of-16 from the floor, while not recording a single turnover and only committing one foul.

Turnovers killed Oklahoma State in the second half. After giving the ball up six times in the second half, Texas built a late lead.

The Cowboys try to snap their losing streak Feb. 6 in Lubbock against Texas Tech.
