KNOXVILLE, Tennessee -- The No. 15 Oklahoma Sooners had their six-game winning streak snapped with a 96-75 loss to the No. 4 Tennessee Lady Volunteers Sunday night in Knoxville. The Sooners could not stop Shekinna Strickland who had a triple-double with 17 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists.
OU’s Amanda Thompson had a game-high 26 points to go along with 11 rebounds while Nyeshia Stevenson added 17 points. Danielle Robinson chipped-in 12 points and 10 assists.
The Sooners (10-3) took a 14-4 lead in the opening four minutes of the game. The Lady Volunteers (12-1) tied the contest thanks to a 16-6 midway through the first half. Tennessee took a 45-39 lead into the half.
OU went cold in the second half and did not score a point for five minutes. The Lady Vols took advantage going on a 16-0 run.
Tennessee’s Angie Bjorklund finished with 25 points. The Lady Vols got revenge for an 80-70 loss to the Sooners last season. The loss denied coach Pat Summitt in her first attempt at her 1,000th win.
