NORMAN, Oklahoma – The OU women’s basketball team got off to a slow start, but dominated the second half on the way to a 100-67 victory Thursday over Texas-Arlington.
OU (5-2) and UTA (3-4) went back and forth for the entire first half, but the Sooners closed the half on a 6-0 run and took a 42-41 lead into halftime. They then turned things on as the second half began, going on a 12-2 run to extend their lead.
The Sooners did not trail for the rest of the game, and went on to outscore the Mavericks 58-26 in the second half.
Carlee Roethlisberger led all scorers with 29 points, while Nyeshia Stevenson added 21 points. Abi Olajuwon scored 12 points and Danielle Robinson added 11.
Tamara Simmons led the Mavericks with 19 points, while Meghan Nelson scored 16 and Shalyn Martin added 10.
The Sooners have now won five of their last six games and will try to keep their early success going when they play Arkansas at 2 p.m. Saturday in Norman.
