TULSA, Oklahoma -- Oral Roberts guard Hunter McClintock will miss the 2009-2010 season after tearing his ACL in practice Friday, October 30.
Head coach Scott Sutton announced the freshman from Durham, North Carolina underwent an MRI on Saturday, which confirmed the damage to McClintock’s right knee.
“He’ll be missed this year, but injuries are a part of the game and we’ll have to adjust,” Sutton said. “We’re confident that he’ll be back to 100 percent in a few months and completely healthy in time for next season.”
McClintock suffered the injury after stepping on a teammate’s foot during a drill. He is scheduled for surgery in the coming weeks, which will likely result in a six-month recovery period.
The Oral Roberts Golden Eagles will open their regular season on Friday, November 13 when they travel to Wake Forest.
The team will play in its first exhibition game Monday, Nov. 2 when it hosts British Columbia. Tipoff is slated for 7:05 p.m.
