Windy Today

Windy conditions will develop today as the upper level system moves across the central plains.  A few showers or storms will be possible by midday to early afternoon across extreme northeastern OK and southeastern Kansas.  Afternoon highs will be in the mid to upper 70s across northern OK and the lower 80s across the southern part of the state.

 I didn't make it home until midnight from storm chasing across southern OK, so I'll be brief with the details of the morning discussion.

 The system responsible for violent weather yesterday across the state is slowly moving east this morning.  The threat of significant severe weather is over, but a few hail storms will be possible this afternoon as the upper level wave brushes the state.

 The clouds associated with the upper level wave will move back into the region as the day progresses and the wind speeds will also be increasing to near advisory levels by the afternoon. 

 Temperatures will top out near 75 to 78 in the Tulsa metro around 1pm to 3pm and then fall into the lower 70s by 5pm to 6pm.

 Temperatures tomorrow morning will start in the mid 50s and climb into the mid 70s with mostly sunny and mild conditions.

 Friday evening into Saturday morning another surface area of low pressure will quickly move into the state as the next upper level wave brushes the central plains.  This will cause a rapid increase in low level moisture which may result in a few storms Friday evening through early Saturday morning. There will be a chance of some severe storm activity including large hail but tornadoes can't be ruled out, but this possibility remains low at this point in the forecast cycle.

 Most of the Memorial Day Holiday period appears warm, muggy, and dry.  Afternoon highs will move into the upper 80s near 90 with morning lows in the lower 70s.
