TULSA, Oklahoma -- A man texting on his cell phone took out a utility pole on Lewis at Archer in Tulsa. Police say that at about 2:30 a.m. the man was texting as he drove and dropped his cell phone. When the driver reached over to pick it up, his car crossed Lewis and snapped the utility pole on the west side of the street.

The car also ran up the side of Las Americas grocery store and restaurant but just left tire marks on the building.

The driver ran from the scene but was caught by Tulsa police. He was taken to jail on complaints of inattentive driving, no driver's license and no insurance.

Power was out at the site for a short time. Lewis was blocked between Archer and Admiral until the pole could be replaced.
