OWASSO, Oklahoma -- A pair of geese has decided to settle down in front of an Owasso retail store.
The pair has established a nest in the flower bed in front of Kohl's and is guarding it from curious shoppers.
"It's been a major attraction in Owasso here," said store manager Shawn Austin. "Just in time for Easter we have an Easter goose."
Austin said the birds are just outside the front door, so at first employees tried to shoo them away. They learned that the geese are protected in the state of Oklahoma and then realized the geese had laid eggs and weren't going anywhere.
The male hisses at customers, but people don't seem to mind. Instead, folks are coming in or driving by to take photos.
"He hasn't been aggressive towards anybody yet - other than himself, looking in the mirror there - seeing his reflection," Austin said.
The only downside is having to clean up after the pair.
This is the second pair of geese to select an Owasso store to start a family.
Owasso city officials told News On 6 a pair of geese manned a nest in front of the Belk store in the Smith Farm Shopping complex in 2010.
Officials say Belk put up barricades around the nest to give the geese their privacy.
