TULSA, Oklahoma -- Crime victims were honored with a flower planting at Lafortune Community Center in Tulsa Tuesday evening.
District Attorney Tim Harris said the Day of Remembrance is a way to show families that their loved ones are not forgotten.
"It's about recognizing that these are people with personalities, families with individual quirks and they were taken from us through violent crime," Harris said.
"We came out here to plant it and show him that we remember him; show him that we're still here," Megan Crocker said. "That we still care and that we're still thinking about him all the time."
Friends and family planted flowers at the Buddy LaFortune Community Center. Each one represents a victim or a survivor.
