Marty Owens, who is accused of ramming his truck through his wife's home in 2009 and then trying to shoot and strangle her, asked the judge Monday for permission to fire Owens' attorney.

Following a hearing, the judge appointed a new public defender for Owens.

According to Bartlesville Police, Owens intentionally rammed his truck into his wife's home on Northwest Cummings Street just after 5 a.m. Sunday, August 23, 2009.

Owens is charged with assault with intent to kill, assault and battery with intent to kill and two counts of first degree burglary.

He is scheduled back in court on Friday, April 8, 2011.
