MIAMI, Oklahoma -- Tulsa County Sheriff's Office chief deputy George Haralson is starting a new job in May.

Haralson has named the city of Miami's new police chief's new job this week.

The city's previous police chief Gary Anderson was fired from the job in February.

Haralson began his law enforcement career in 1973 with the Joplin Police Department. He joined the Tulsa Police Department in 1975. And then in 1998, Haralson joined the sheriff's office.  

As chief deputy, Haralson is TCSO's Operations Chief, responsible for the oversight of the Operations Division and the Court Services Division.

Haralson was born and raised in Miami and attended NE Oklahoma A&M College in that community.
